Discover how WSAVA partnered with Membership Bespoke to benchmark salaries across international markets, evaluate reward and employment practices, and make confident decisions around attraction, retention and workforce planning.
The World Small Animal Veterinary Association (WSAVA) is a global professional membership organisation dedicated to advancing the standards of companion animal veterinary care worldwide. Representing more than 200,000 veterinarians through its international network of member associations, WSAVA provides education, resources, advocacy and leadership to support the veterinary profession and improve animal welfare across the globe.
WSAVA is a truly international membership organisation with employees based across multiple countries and jurisdictions. The organisation required an independent salary benchmarking exercise to assess the competitiveness, fairness and compliance of its reward framework across a globally distributed workforce.
The challenge extended far beyond comparing salaries. WSAVA needed to understand how compensation levels compared across different labour markets whilst balancing local cost-of-living considerations, tax regimes, employment regulations and retention risks.
The review included comparisons across GBP, USD, Israeli Shekels and Canadian Dollars, alongside consideration of employees based in Europe, India and other international locations.
Membership Bespoke conducted a comprehensive international salary and reward review, analysing:
Base salary benchmarking across multiple global markets and currencies
Pension and bonus arrangements
Flexible and remote working practices
Benefits and total reward packages
Contractor and Employer of Record (EOR) arrangements
Career progression opportunities and employee value proposition
Alongside remuneration analysis, we assessed employment models and international compliance considerations, including tax obligations, contractor arrangements and labour law differences between jurisdictions.
The review also considered future workforce risks, identifying areas where the organisation could face challenges in attracting and retaining talent.
WSAVA received a detailed strategic benchmarking report providing:
Independent salary and total reward benchmarking across multiple international markets
Recommendations to improve consistency and fairness across global teams
Insight into future hiring and retention risks
Assessment of talent scarcity and market inflation pressures
Guidance on international employment and compliance considerations
The project enabled WSAVA to make informed decisions around reward, workforce planning and future organisational growth whilst ensuring a fair and competitive approach across a complex international workforce.
"What impressed us most was Dennis's ability to navigate the complexity of an international workforce. This wasn't simply a salary benchmarking exercise; it involved understanding different jurisdictions, employment models, currencies, benefits and compliance considerations across multiple countries. The process was thorough, collaborative and incredibly insightful. The final report gave us confidence that we were making fair, informed and sustainable decisions for our global team, while also highlighting future recruitment and retention risks we hadn't fully considered."
