AMDEA represents the UK’s domestic appliance industry, bringing together leading manufacturers and retailers working at the forefront of technology, innovation and sustainability.

The organisation works closely with members, government and partners to promote best practice, support industry collaboration and deliver consumer campaigns across the UK.

Operating as a small, highly collaborative and close-knit team, AMDEA plays an important role in supporting the sector and strengthening engagement between industry stakeholders and consumers.

Membership Bespoke has developed a strong relationship with AMDEA, having previously supported the organisation with senior recruitment, including the successful appointment of Chief Executive Stefan Hay.

The Brief 

AMDEA partnered with Membership Bespoke to recruit a Digital Marketing Manager, a newly created role designed to strengthen the organisation’s in-house marketing capability.

Historically, AMDEA had relied on a retained agency to deliver marketing activity. As the organisation evolved, the leadership team took the strategic decision to bring digital expertise in-house to strengthen engagement with members, stakeholders and consumers.

The successful candidate would work closely with Head of Communications and Marketing Rebecca Hildreth, supporting digital campaigns, content creation and online engagement across AMDEA’s platforms.

The role required strong expertise across:

    • Social media management and digital engagement
    • Website content management and SEO
    • Content creation across multiple digital channels
    • Campaign delivery across both B2B and B2C audiences

Alongside technical capability, cultural fit was one of AMDEA’s highest priorities. As a small and close-knit team, they needed a self-starting individual who could take ownership of a broad role while integrating seamlessly into the organisation’s collaborative working culture.

The role was home-based, with monthly travel to London and visits to members across the UK to create digital content and support events.

Our Solution  

The search took place during a particularly competitive period within the marketing and digital recruitment market.

Demand for skilled digital marketing professionals remains extremely high, particularly for candidates with experience across social media management, content creation and digital engagement. This often makes attracting high-quality candidates challenging, as many individuals are already in roles and actively approached by multiple organisations.

The recruitment timeline also fell across the December–January period, traditionally a busy and complex time for recruitment activity.

Despite these challenges, Membership Bespoke moved quickly by leveraging our extensive candidate network across the membership, association and digital marketing sectors, alongside targeted outreach to relevant professionals.

Working closely with Rebecca, we carefully assessed candidates not only for their digital expertise but also for their ability to thrive within AMDEA’s close-knit team environment, where collaboration, flexibility and cultural alignment were essential.

Within 2.5 active working weeks, Membership Bespoke delivered a strong shortlist of candidates aligned with both the technical requirements of the role and AMDEA’s organisational culture.

AMDEA conducted a two-stage interview process, beginning with virtual interviews before inviting final candidates to meet the wider team.

The successful candidate stood out for their strong digital marketing capability, experience delivering consumer-focused campaigns and ability to create engaging digital content across multiple platforms.
